Appalachian Picture Book

My first collection of poetry in chapbook form. These poems reflect Appalachian experiences and friends through the years. Although most are reflections on the challenges of life and love in the foothills and mountains, there’s humor too – especially around memories of ‘shine and stock cars.

Here I combine my poems with photographs taken in eastern and coastal North Carolina. I want to capture the amazing warmth and resilience of the people there and the landscapes where they live.

I seek them out when cold rain falls,

Hidden ‘till memory scent or scene

bring doors to front for opening.

snowy cedar lace-laden limbs

Crossed over sheltering the small.
