DOCUMENTARY FILM “THE WHY NOTS”

About my beloved softball team, this film is in the final stages of editing and production.  I’m working with my friends at Minnow Media to complete this project. Click here for a short clip.

SONGS

A couple of years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Richard Putnam of Big Feat Productions to arrange and copyright songs I’ve written over the years. (Yes, I was one of those acoustic guitar trying to sing hopefuls in the sixties ;-)

 “SPIFF”

In her later years, I left my Mom little notes with the “Spiff” character – whether I was home for a weekend, or just on a card, I’d include Spiff and a message to cheer her up during tough times.  Spiff will appear here and there, hope you enjoy him as well :)

MEMOIR “WALKING IN THE MIRROR”

"Walking the Mirror" uses my childhood home in the foothills as the basis for exploring my identity, heritage, and world of dreams.  Here's an excerpt from one of the sections, hope you enjoy!

MUSIC ROOM

Notes floated above the piano keys creating small clouds of sound that scooted about as if in a summer sky. Or like the heaviness of winter, they hung so low that the keys were blurred by their darkness.

The music room held me captive. It was a beautiful room, with gold flowered wallpaper and gold lamps. The bay window had a bench which opened to reveal piles of sheet music and librettos from great composers. There were antique chairs and one low, long coffee table. The table was made of some sort of blond wood, perfect for the 1950’s. A deep green rug covered the wood floor. In all, a formal place. Sometimes in the evening my mother would play. One of her favorites was Chaminade’s “Scarf Dance”—her gentle hands and delicate fingers played this difficult piece perfectly. As I watched her play, I could almost see her as an Egyptian queen.  It was if part of her soul entered in from another world, entranced by the music, curious as to who she was in this life. I have the distinct memory of her turning once to look at me — her green eyes had turned very dark, yet it was a gentle and inquisitive look. There was an understanding and then it was gone.
